Lyme Disease and other tick-borne illnesses can become chronic systemic and debilitating infections, often persisting despite antibiotic therapy. The seriousness of these conditions, the challenges posed by their diagnoses, and their resistance to treatment all necessitate an individualized, integrative treatment approach that supports the immune, endocrine, neurological, digestive, and musculoskeletal systems. The response to treatment varies greatly from one patient to the next with most patients needing a comprehensive approach combining antibiotics, specific micronutrients, essential fatty acids, probiotics, mitochondrial enhancers, and hormonal support as well as targeted detoxification therapies. Solutions for Lyme-related pain, fatigue, brain fog, depression, anxiety and insomnia will be discussed. Our clinical experience has shown that that proper integration of these strategies can help us overcome this difficult disorder.
