The Nutritional and Biological Integrative Medical Treatment of Diseases Conference:

On August 20-21, 2010, the North Carolina Integrative Medical Society sponsored a major conference at the Haywood Park hotel in Asheville, NC.  Titled “The Nutritional and Biological Integrative Medical Treatment of Diseases,” this event marked the largest gathering of integrative medicine practitioners in the state’s history, with over 100 attendees.  Lecture topics ranged from osteoporosis and cardiovascular disease to such medically intractable conditions as chronic fatigue, fibromyalgia, and Lyme disease.  Carolina Center medical director and NCIMS president John C. Pittman, MD, presented “An Integrative Medicine Approach to Lyme and other Tick Borne Diseases.”  One of the highlights was a lunchtime speech delivered by Senator Martin Nesbitt about the growing acceptance of integrative medicine practices by the state legislature and NC Medical Board.
