John C. Pittman, MD, DABCMT Dr. Pittman received his B.S. in biology in 1980 and completed studies for a M.S. in biochemistry and microbiology at the University of Georgia in 1982. He received his M.D. degree from Mercer University in Macon, Georgia in 1986 and attended the Pediatric Residency Program at NC Baptist Hospital in Winston-Salem, North Carolina with an interest in Preventive Medicine. Dr. Pittman began working as an Emergency Physician and was Emergency Department Director in Rocky Mount and Southport, North Carolina. It was in the Emergency Room setting that he realized how much lifestyle issues—especially diet and nutrition—were playing significant roles in the health of the patients he saw. Prompted by this, Dr. Pittman began exploring avenues of incorporating conventional and holistic medicine with nutrition into a clinical medical practice. In 1994, he established The Carolina Center, a facility where multiple healing modalities were brought together to help patients with chronic degenerative illnesses. Since that time, Dr. Pittman has intensified his training and has gained certification in chelation therapy, mercury and heavy metal toxicology, and oxidative medicine. Meredith Frazier, APRN-BC In her role as Nurse Practitioner, Meredith is responsible for seeing new patients, collecting histories and physicals, and collaborating with Dr. Pittman on a treatment plan. She also runs the IV room by overseeing the other Carolina Center staff, reviewing charts, ordering labs, and checking the results. Meredith was born and raised in Clarksburg, WV. She attended Fairmont State College where she received both an Associate Degree in Nursing and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. She received a Masters of Science in Nursing, with a focus of COPC (Community-Oriented Primary Care) from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Meredith is Board Certified through the American Nursing Credentialing Center as a Family Nurse Practitioner. Meredith says that she’s always had an interest in Integrative Medicine. “My family has lived in Appalachia for over 300 years. My parents always used ‘home remeidies’ to treat aliments throughout my life. We used ‘natural healers’, as well as ‘traditional’ medical providers. They have been very supportive in my personal journey to integrative medical care.” |
